As soon as the mother began less and less nursing, we needed to supplement feedings. We ground up dog food and cottage cheese. The loved it.

Ria, the mother, would get tired of nursing and stand up and walk away. We used a kids pool to contain them for a few days and she could easily enter and exit the pool.

The puppies would always sleep in bunches. They were never happy sleeping alone. In this configuration, when one started moving, they wok the others.

Very early in their lives, their personalities become evident. With nine puppies, going outside was an adventure. Counting noses every few minutes was necessary.

These 12 day old puppies are allot less work when they sleep. It is weird to say but I think we worked harder than their mother did. She grew tired and frustrated with them quickly.
